Theo Priestley

I love a good story.

I’ve been reading and writing fiction since I was at school. I launched my first technology-focused blog in 2008, and since then, I haven’t stopped writing on a daily basis in one form or another.

I’ve been featured in publications including WIRED, Forbes, and HuffPost, and have made television and radio appearances.

During the pandemic, I wrote, edited and released a book through Bloomsbury Publishing. It was successful enough to be turned into an audiobook.

In 2023, I made a conscious decision to leave that tech world behind and dive headlong into full-time creative writing. I published an anthology of speculative fiction – a mix of existential horror, science fiction, and fantasy – and finally found a home working as a narrative designer and game writer.

Now, on top of all this, I’ve been exploring TTRPG game design and writing campaigns, screenwriting for television and feature film, and learning game modding in my spare time.

I’m a keen retro-tech enthusiast. I love older analogue and digital technologies, and support the preservation of physical media.

Technically, I own a library, and practice the art of tsundoku…

More about me

Career

My career has been an eclectic corporate journey, but now I’m solely focused on creating immersive worlds for audiences to experience.

Current Work

A computer desk with two curved monitors, a SteelSeries RGB keyboard and mouse, dirty Star Wars mug, and a large canvas print of the Star Wars Galaxy in the background.

What I’m currently and contractually engaged with, as well as what I’m personally working on and volunteering at the moment, to keep myself busy and learning.

Talks

For over 10 years, I’ve been fortunate to have given talks internationally to small roundtable audiences, university students, and large corporate conferences.
